LASPNET and Action Aid Uganda Offers Free legal aid in Acholi Region

The Legal Aid Service Providers’ Network (LASPNET), and Action Aid Uganda, on Tuesday 19th August, launched the free legal service open week in Acholi region with the objective of bringing legal services closer to people in Acholi region to enhance justice. Speaking at the launch held at Mayor’s Garden in Pader District, Ms Lydia Namuli Lubega, the team leader of the delegation from LASPNET and Action Aid, said that they were putting the focus on the most vulnerable groups with the most pressing  issues in Acholi land and inmates who had over stayed in prison and police cells. She said that from the initial research carried out by Action Aid, land wrangles seemed to be at the top of the legal issues reported.The open week will be  used as a platform to create awareness of the free legal services to the residents in Acholi region.
