To strengthen coordination and networking of LASPs, harmonisation and standardisation of legal aid service provision by the different service providers, lobbying and advocacy to facilitate a favourable legal and policy environment.

FIDA-UGANDA Recieves Award From Female Lawyers Committee

On Friday, 19th September 2014, FIDA Uganda won an award of Excellence at the Female Lawyers Committee Dinner of the Uganda Law Society.The award was not voted for as it was one of the two in the "Special Category" LASPNET would like to congratulate FIDA upon this achievement, especially as they mark and celebrate 40 years in existence.FIDA also congratulates and recognizes its members who won awards too such as the former treasurer on the Board, Ms Doris Akol, Mrs. Margaret Ssekagya among others.

FIDA holds Annual General Meeting

The FIDA Annual General Meeting was held at Hotel Africana and was attended by some active senior members such as The Chief Guest Hon. The retired Deputy Chief Justice Lady Justice Leticia Kikonyogo, Hon Dr. Miria Matembe, Lady Justice Hon. Dr. Winifred Nabisinde, the CEO, Hon Irene Ovonji Odida, among others.The meeting was also graced by the Secretary General of Uganda Law reform Commission Mr Aliro Omara.

    AMURU - Over 300 land disputes have been recorded in the northern Uganda district of Amuru during a five-day free legal service Clinic.            Berna Bakkidde, the programs manager of the Legal Aid Service Providers Network (LASPNET), said approximately 60 cases were being registered on a daily basis during the five-day exercise.The cases were registered in four sub-counties of Amuru, Atiak, Pobo and Lamogi in Amuru district recently.

The Legal Aid Service Providers Network (LASPNET) is a national member NGO established in 2004 to provide strategic linkages and a collaboration framework for the Legal Aid Service Providers and maintain a common front to interface with various actors in the Justice, Law and Order Sector in Uganda. It targets three critical aspects of coordination: a collective role bringing together different LASPs for solidarity in strategizing, sharing lessons and experiences, while minimizing duplication; capacitating them through collaborative research and analysis ; as well as documenting, providing needed feedback, and amplifying voice on key issues regarding access to justice/legal aid at regional, national or international level.
